Law of Attraction and the Bible

12 Apr 2019

Recently I've been hearing a lot about Law of Attraction. One full day face to face training, training on whatsapp for 31 days, 90 days and, so on. Out of curiosity I joined a free introduction training on whatsapp for one week and a concept was taught everyday.

It was interesting to attend as I received most of the answers to how the Bible works. When I was a child and asked questions as I read the Bible, I was asked to believe without a doubt what the Bible says. But when I attended the training on whatsapp, the hidden information was explained in detail. So I thought of writing this blog on what struck my mind.

Lets take a concept – Ask, Believe, Receive (LOA)

In the Bible, in New Testament, the first book, Gospel of Matthew, Chapter 7, verses 7 and eight (Matt 7:7–8) says,Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”

Asking, seeking, and knocking are all metaphors for the act of prayer. But how to ask and how to receive aren’t clearly mentioned. Because of that some ask and receive while others don’t. And they don’t know why they didn’t receive.

In LOA, three concepts were explained.

1) Thoughts become things

2) What you put your attention and focus on, grows stronger in life and

3) Like attracts like

When we want something, we think of it. When we keep thinking positively, our thoughts manifest and become things that we desire. And then thank the universe for bringing our thoughts into reality.

Now for the comparison, prayer is asking to the Almighty God. LOA is having a burning desire which gets manifested by the universe. We all know God; we worship Him in one form or the other. I am not going to debate on this, let me leave it here. What is universe? It is the open space where the planets, stars, clouds, galaxies, etc (who knows, we are yet to find them) are free floating. They did not come into existence automatically. The Almighty God created them. Then why do we have to get it from the universe which is the creation instead of the creator. I am borrowing a whatsapp status of my niece, “Why wish upon a star when you can pray to the one who created it.”

Ask God the creator of the universe and you and me and He will fulfill all the desires of your heart.

The Bible says in the book of Psalm 20:4, “Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel.” In Psalm 37:4, “Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” In Psalm 21:2, “You have granted his heart's desire and have not withheld the request of his lips.” In Psalm 145:19, “He fulfills the desires of those who fear Him; He hears their cry and saves them.”

I will discuss one more concept in the next blog. Do share your comments to [email protected]or in the box below.
