UGC NET notification for May 2021 out; registration begins today

NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency will conduct the UGC NET (December cycle 2020) examination for Junior Research Fellowship and eligibility for Assistant Professor in May 2021.

The union education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal on Tuesday announced the UGC NET 2021 exam dates. The UGC NET exam will be held on May 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 14 & 17, 201. “National Testing Agency (@DG_NTA) will conduct the next UGC-NET exam for Junior Research Fellowship & eligibility for Assistant Professor on 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 14 & 17 May 2021,” minister tweeted.


The test will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode only and will comprise of two papers. The Paper I will be of 100 marks, which will have 50 questions. Paper-II will be of 200 marks and it will have 100 MCQ format questions. The exam will be conducted in two shifts and the duration of the test will be three hours.


The National Testing Agency will issue the UGC NET December cycle (May 2021) information bulletin today i.e., February 2. The application process for the same will commence from today and will continue till March 2. However, candidates can make application fee payments up to March 3.


Awarding of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and/ or Eligibility for Assistant Professorship depends on the aggregate performance of the candidate in Paper-I and Paper-II of UGC-NET.



The candidates qualifying only for Assistant Professorship are not to be considered for the awarding of JRF. Candidates who qualify the eligibility test for Assistant Professorship are governed by the rules and regulations for recruitment of Assistant Professor of the concerned universities/colleges/state governments, as the case may be.
