Patience Persistence and
perseverance are essential for achieving any goal, personal or professional.
Success is the result of working
the process that is necessary for the time that is required.
Patience is the strength of will
to navigate the obstacles and the challenges that may come your way as you go
through the process.
Patience is essential because
there will be problems. There will be people who irritate you and situations
that frustrate you. If you are patient, you stay focused on doing the work. You
don’t complain, you solve.
“The day you plant
the seed is not the day you eat the fruit.”
A seed sown takes some time to
germinate and get life turn into a plant and
grow into a tree and then it gives fruits. No force or compulsion can
make it happen sooner. The determination of the tree’s root to go deeper will
help it grow stronger and bigger.
Persistence is a quality which suggests remaining steadfast
and firm on course, action, purpose, and state, despite opposition,
remonstration, hurdles and setbacks.
Persistence helps to stay motivated, remain on course and
keep going till the life’s objectives are fulfilled.
One of the examples to quote is of Arunima Sinha, a former
national level volleyball player turned mountaineer
In 2011, Arunima was travelling from Lucknow to Delhi by
train some hoodlums jumped onto the train and began robbing passengers.
Arunima, who was trying to protect herself and the co-passengers, was pushed
off the train and fell on a parallel railway track.
Unfortunately, there was another train passing on the
parallel track and it ran over one of Arunima’s legs. As a result, the leg had to
be amputated. Subsequently, the Indian Railways offered her a job.
She was then brought to the All Indian Institute of Medical
Sciences, where she spent 4 months. A private company provided her a prosthetic
leg.
India's Arunima Sinha, who became the world's first female
amputee to climb Mount Everest in 2013.
Apart from Everest, Arunima has also scaled Mount
Kilimanjaro in Africa, Elbrus in Europe, Kosciuszko in Australia, Aconcagua in
Argentina and Carstensz Pyramid (Puncak Jaya) in Indonesia.
Successful people are persistent and self-confident even
when they face failure. They rise again and continue making persistent efforts
till they reach their goals.
Perseverance is being relentless
about doing what needs to be done for as long as it takes. It is the never give
up attitude.
Perseverance is essential
because there will be plans and projects that require a great deal of effort
and endurance. If you are relentless, you don’t give up. You don’t listen to
the quitting voice. You trust the process, do the work, and keep going.
“Patience and perseverance have a
magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish.”
